Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2026
🛡️
Zero Data Collection Guarantee

Scripted does not collect, track, store, transmit, process, or sell any of your personal data. Your use of our app is completely private and anonymous.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Scripted ("we", "our", or "the app"). Scripted is a tiny, distraction-free movie plot reader designed for smart devices (including Panic Playdate and Wear OS).

We believe privacy is a fundamental human right. Our service is intentionally built from the ground up so that you can read movie synopses without being tracked, monitored, or fingerprinted in any way.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To be entirely clear, we do not collect or process any of the following:

  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, phone number, or age.
  • No Account Information: Scripted does not require registration, login, social account connection, or passwords.
  • No Device or Location Tracking: We do not record your precise geolocation, GPS data, IP logs, or unique device fingerprints.
  • No Biometric or Sensor Data: On Wear OS smartwatches and Playdate, we do not access health sensors, heart rate monitors, step counters, cameras, or microphones.
  • No Financial Data: We do not collect or store credit card, banking, or payment information.
  • No Usage Profiling: We do not track which individual movie plots you read or build any user profile about your movie preferences.

3. How Scripted Operates

When you open Scripted, your device makes an HTTP request to our server to download the list of recently released movies and their plot text.

These network requests are stateless and anonymous. They contain only standard technical headers necessary for the web connection (such as HTTP GET requests). We do not correlate your IP address or session with your identity.

4. Third-Party Services and APIs

Scripted provides movie synopses and posters using public metadata:

  • The Movie Database (TMDB): Used on our backend to identify recently released movies, poster artwork, and basic overviews.
  • Wikipedia: Used on our backend to retrieve publicly available movie plot summaries.

Your device communicates with our backend server (https://scripted.show), and does not transmit any of your personal information to TMDB or Wikipedia.

5. Device Permissions

Scripted requests only the bare minimum permissions necessary to function:

  • INTERNET: Required solely to fetch movie summaries and poster images from our server.

No access to storage, contacts, camera, microphone, location, or background processes is ever requested or utilized.

6. Children's Privacy

Because Scripted does not collect, store, or process any personal information from any user, we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13 (or under any applicable legal age).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect technical or legal improvements. If we make any modifications, the updated version will always be published at this URL (https://scripted.show/privacy) with a revised "Last Updated" date.
